The Role

You won't just file returns. You'll design the plan.

Keystone's clients come for proactive planning. Strategists own those conversations: you meet the client, find the savings, and turn it into a clear written plan they can act on.

What you'll work on

  • Leading strategy meetings. Run planning calls with real estate investors and their entities
  • Designing tax saving plans. Entity structure, cost segregation, depreciation, 1031s, real estate professional status
  • Writing it up, on time. A clear write up after every meeting, because late plans cost clients and the firm
  • Reviewing returns across 1040s, 1065s and 1120S where planning meets compliance
  • Mentoring specialists and helping evolve how the firm plans

What you'll have

  • You report to the firm's founders
  • A team of strategists and specialists you work alongside
  • Flexible hours, with overlap for Monday internal meetings
  • Clients who come to you for planning, not just filing
  • A path to more complex client portfolios and leadership

A good first year.

The standard, stated before you apply.

Week 1
Train with a manager and get set up on Keystone's systems
Shadow
Join calls with different strategists and help prepare write ups
Lead
Run client meetings alongside a manager until you're ready
Own
Your own client portfolio, with more complex clients over time
Why the work matters

Every plan you write has a dollar value for the client. That's why Keystone pays overtime: they would rather you finish the plan than leave a client waiting.

Who We're Looking For

The bar, stated plainly.

This is what Keystone needs, so you can decide before you apply.

Experience
3+ years in tax, with 2+ years reviewing 1040, 1065 and 1120S returns.
Real estate
Real experience with real estate investor clients. You don't need to be an expert, but you need to have done it.
Planning
You can point to specific tax savings you found for a client, with numbers.
Client presence
You're confident leading a client meeting and explaining a strategy clearly, including when the client pushes back.
Mindset
Team player, no ego. You take ownership and get things done.
Credentials
Bachelor's in Accounting. CPA or EA is a plus, not a must.
Location
Based in the US and available full time, 40 hours a week.

Skip this one if

  • You want a compliance only role
  • You run your own practice and can't give a full 40 hours
  • You'd rather not lead client meetings
  • You've had several short stints with no clear reasons
  • You're based outside the US
Common Questions

Answers before you ask.

Keystone CPA directly. NR Recruiting runs the search, then introduces you to the Keystone team.
Yes, some. Keystone works only with real estate investors, so you'll need hands on experience with that client base. Nobody expects you to be an expert.
Yes. You can work from anywhere in the US. Hours are flexible, with overlap for internal meetings on Mondays (and some Fridays).
Not in the traditional sense. This is planning work, not deadline driven compliance. If your workload builds up, overtime is paid.
No. A CPA or EA is a plus. What matters most is your tax knowledge, review experience and how you work with clients.
Lacerte and QuickBooks, plus AI tools across the firm. Lacerte experience is helpful but not required.
More responsibility, more complex client portfolios and a route into leadership at a growing firm.
As soon as you're ready after an offer. A standard notice period is fine.
